What if you overstay in Georgia

1️⃣ Overstaying penalties in Georgia:

Overstaying in Georgia results in escalating fines and entry bans.

2️⃣ Recent 2025 changes:

• Up to 3 months overstay: 1,000 GEL fine + 6-month entry ban

• Up to 1 year overstay: 2,000 GEL fine + 2-year entry ban

• Over 1 year overstay: 3,000 GEL fine + 3-year entry ban

3️⃣ Payment rules:

It is not mandatory to pay the fine when leaving Georgia.

However, when returning, the fine must be paid at the Georgian border in order to be allowed entry into the country.
